The music program at Chatham UMC is a welcoming, inclusive, gathering of musicians singing, ringing, and playing in generous kindness as an example of God’s love. Every group welcomes musicians of much experience to those who wish to learn music anew; we work toward musical excellence in all ways through humor, dedication, and willingness to learn.

The Convenant Choir

The Covenant Choir participates in worship with four part (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) choral music for our 9:00 a.m. Family Services. The Choir sings a wide variety of styles from classical to contemporary. The Covenant Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Music Room.

The Wesley Ringers

Chatham UMC’s Adult Bell Choir, the Wesley Ringers, provide musical offerings for the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services once a month. Ringing on five octaves of Schulmerich handbells and Malmark chimes, the Bell Choir meets for rehearsal on Thursdays in the Sanctuary from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Kenaniah Praise Band

“Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his responsibility because he was skillful at it.”  1 Chronicles 15:22.

Kenaniah, Chatham UMC’s Praise Band, plays Contemporary Christian Music, rock, pop, country, and other styles of music as part of the 9:00 a.m. Family Service about one Sunday of each month. The Band rehearses every other Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and welcomes vocalists, guitarists, bass players, and band instruments.

The Chatham UMC Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble plays for special services like Rally Day Sunday, Christmas Eve, and Easter services. Though the name denotes wind instruments, all instruments welcome: from saxophone to euphonium to all string instruments!

The Chatham UMC Ukulele Orchestra

CUMC’s newest group meets twice a month on Saturday mornings to learn and enjoy playing ukuleles. The group is open to all ages and experience. For those who are new to the ukulele or new to learning an instrument, this group is a relaxed and enjoyable ensemble for all. The ukulele orchestra plays in services and other venues throughout the area.

Music at Eleven: Chamber Music

The 11:00 a.m. service welcomes experienced soloists, duos, and groups to participate in worship with special music. This is a wonderful opportunity for advanced musicians who have music in the light contemporary or classical music field.
